Madeleine L'Engle Dies at 88

The headlines are calling her a children's author, and that may be true in part, but L'Engle's books were hardly just for "kids." They addressed real problems with realistic characters, fine writing, and a willingness to address the dark side in people while not giving up on them. At least she left a solid body of work, and anyone whose writing is so often banned can't be all bad.
