According to Variety, Conan O'Brien is doing as Dave Letterman has, keeping his non-writing staff on payroll. The only difference is that the Letterman's crew actually works for him, as he owns the production company. O'Brien doesn't, but is dipping into his own pocket to keep them paid. I'm a bit mixed as to whether he should have helped the writers - who have only gone on strike because they're tired of getting screwed by studios.
